Halim Mostafa Gabori
One of AYCA’s founding members and its guiding light.
Halim Mostafa (Gabori) was one of AYCA’s founding members and its guiding light. It was truly a pleasure and privilege to have an individual of his caliber as part of our team.
Mr. Gabori truly believed in AYCA’s mission, as serving others resonated with his core beliefs. He was genuinely a people’s person and had a passion for life. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father and a servant leader.
His accomplishments were many but it is certainly worth highlighting some of them. Mr. Gabori was the CEO of Aveen, Inc. Under the Aveen umbrella, he managed Scimitar Productions. This film production company produced MOZLYM in 2008, which won accolades at Riverside International Film Festival and Cairo International Film Festival.
Mr. Gabori was the publisher/editor of Quest Publication (a local San Diego newspaper for the Muslim community). He was also an active member of the Kurdish community here in San Diego. As an advisor to MYCSD (Muslim Youth Council of San Diego), he worked with youth leaders to establish and maintain an organization aimed at forming strong bonds among the youth via camps and skill-building projects.
Mr. Gabori’s realm of influence was quite visible on many other fronts as well. He was a business leader who oversaw the daily operations of Scimitar Security Services as its CEO and was an active board member of Crescent Learning Program (a non-profit educational enrichment platform). Over the years, he administered and/or supported numerous educational programs for students of all ages.
A high caliber individual of many talents, Mr. Gabori was a contributing force to AYCA and the San Diego community as a whole. He is dearly missed everyday but his contributions and his lasting impact are great reminders of the amazing person he was.
